From UFPJ:   Last month in an historic vote, the House of Representatives turned down a bill that would have appropriated an additional $162.5 billion to continue the war and occupation in Iraq until next summer. Because the Senate voted in favor of the funding, the House will be voting on this request again, as early as this Friday, June 6.

They need to hear from us again!

We've held vigils, marched, written, sat-in, donated, educated, voted, gone to jail and called over and over again in the last six years, and it all comes down to this: Will the House pass funding for the war and occupation of Iraq to last well into the next president's term?

We say NO!

  • CALL 202-224-3121.
  • ASK to be connected to your representative. Not sure who that is? Click here.
  • TELL your representative to stop funding the war and occupation. Tell your representative you want him or her to vote against any bill that funds the war and occupation. Tell your representative you support generous benefits for GIs, but it is unnecessary and unacceptable to tie these benefits to another year of war.
  • CALL AGAIN! Make sure your representative got the message! This could be the last vote on Iraq funding this year -- remind your rep that your vote in November will depend on their vote now.

Background:
The Iraq war funding bill could be brought to the floor of the House for a vote this Friday (June 6). It is not yet clear if the war funding will be voted on separately from the GI benefits package, or if the two will be combined into one vote. On May 15, the House of Representatives defeated the Iraq funding bill; find out how your representative voted.

Yours, for peace and justice,

UFPJ Legislative Working Group
